Erosion of the beach

It's been a while since I last posted.  But, the dramatic change in our beach, just in the last few weeks, has prompted me to add some pictures.  We were up here last month and even then the erosion was not as pronounced as it is now.

For some perspective, here are some pictures of our beach from last summer compared to the same areas this morning.



And, now this morning.



You can see that the iron stake holding the end of the orange fence has been undermined by the higher water.

Now looking the other direction, here is last summer.

Here are some other overview shots.  You can see from last summer's pictures at the top of this post that we could walk along the water's edge in both directions fairly easily.  Now, it requires an all terrain vehicle!




In the picture below, taken last summer,  you can see the tiles where we place our fire pit (on the right hand side just below the gazebo.)  While I don't have the same angle, you can see from the next picture that at some point, the waves went up nearly to that spot.  That's the highest I can ever remember seeing debris on our beach from waves.
