Baby Leaves The Nest

A few posts back I showed some pictures of baby Chickadees leaving the nest for the first time. We have our own version of that going on today.

Cathy has been preparing to move for the last few weeks. First she repainted some of her bedroom furniture to make it more "grown up." (What? Those blue and green stars that you hand painted on the fronts of your white drawers don't fit your new image as a young professional living in the DC area?)

Next, she worked on sorting through everything in her bedroom at home.

After that came packing up the Ann Arbor apartment.

Once we brought all that stuff back to Grosse Pointe, our family packing guru was given the task of figuring out how we'd get it all to fit into our van.

Somehow, they managed to pull it off!

Later today, we will pull out of the driveway and head east. I feel both happy and sad. Happy for Cathy of whom we are SO proud, but sad for us because we'll miss her being nearby.

Now I know how those Chickadee parents must have felt a few weeks back.
