After we left Hilton Head Island, Chuck and I drove to his parents house in Zephyrhills. (see previous post about the Sand Hill Cranes).
The following day the four of us went to Disney's Vero Beach Resort. We had a great view of the ocean from our room.
It was very, very windy the entire time we were there -- the waves were really big. But, unlike the winds off Lake Huron, it was warm. I'm used to windy lake days being cold so it was a strange feeling being able to walk along the shore without having to bundle up.
Also, they must have had a recent storm. Look at the shoreline. A few years ago, we saw this place shortly after Hurricanes Jeanne and Frances had blown through. They had already started to reclaim the beach and had added a lot of sand and built out the banks. Unfortunately, that has all now been undone once again.
And then, here's a house just being built. If you look closely, you can see the construction workers at the top. Why would anyone in their right mind build so close to the water? You can see they've already had to put a sea wall up!
We saw two jelly fish washed up on the beach. Glad we don't get those on Lake Huron!
Here are some more shots from around the resort. Our room is the one at the very top of the bottom picture.
