Tsunami

We were just about to leave for our day long drive around the south end of the Big Island when we learned of a tsunami warning from an 8.0 earthquake in American Samoa. The TV said if it was going to hit, it would do so in another four hours. Since Chuck was fighting a cold, we decided to postpone our trip one day to be on the safe side and await further word.

A few hours later, they cancelled the warning. However, it was a good thing we had postponed our trip because they closed ALL beaches throughout the island as a precaution even though the tsunami warning was cancelled. Since visiting several unique beaches was on our itinerary, we were glad we hadn't driven a long way only to be disappointed when we found them closed.

So, we'll try it again tomorrow!
