Last of the "Mitigation" Phase

The company that has been helping us with our roof leak has been doing what they call "mitigation" work.  That means they are taking measures to keep the damage from getting worse.  They tried a conservative approach to drying the ceiling beam in our kitchen/family room area.  They poked holes in the plaster and ran fans and a large dehumidifier under it.

Unfortunately, it wasn't good enough.  The moisure meter indicated the area was still wet so they had to go to the next step.  Today they tore out the plaster and exposed the wooden beam.  It was a good thing because it was definitely still wet.

Here's what it looks like now.

Once it's completely dry and our roof is repaired, we can begin the reconstruction.
