The snow plows had pushed so much off the highway that it was too deep to bring the car in without shoveling. And because it was so deep, the warm weather hadn't yet melted it enough. So, we pulled off to the side of the road and Chuck tramped in and got our shovels. We then spent about 30 minutes shoveling before we could pull in off the highway and carry all our stuff in.
This morning, we could see that there must have been big winds -- some of the snow has melted but there are other areas where huge drifts still exist.
